Anybus Communicator gateway family can connect almost any automation device with a serial communication interface to fieldbus and industrial Ethernet networks. The Anybus Communicator supports RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485 serial electrical signals without any change in hardware. This allows for connectivity to a broad range of serial devices. Typical serial applications include variable frequency drives, sensors, actuators, human machine interfaces, barcode readers, RFID readers and industrial scales among others.

The Anybus X-gateway family is a product line consisting of over 180 different gateways aimed to connect almost every possible combination of two industrial networks. The product family supports 17 different fieldbus networks such as Profibus, DeviceNet, CANopen and CC-Link as well as industrial Ethernet versions supporting Profinet, EtherNet/IP, Modbus-TCP and EtherCAT. The X-gateways are designed for use in industrial automation plants where increasingly many different networks are used.
